A surprising heritage
A millenary tradition, a rich historical heritage and an incomparable natural environment are the attractives that turn the eight villages constituting the municipality of Alt Àneu in the essence of the wide Àneu Valley, located in the heart of the Pyrenees and next to Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. These small villages have managed to preserve the traditional Pyrenean structure without giving on the modernization that can guarantee a good quality of life in a privileged environment.
From the top of a hill, València d'Àneu Castle guards the large valley that gathers a valuable Romanesque legacy, surprising ancestral traditions where fire is the main character and a singular Iberian–Basque print reflected on the villages' names: Àrreu, Borén, Isavarre, Isil... This ensemble turns Alt Àneu into an authentic territory that does not forget its past – and does not give up on innovation neither.
