A journey back in time
Halfway between the Pyrenees and the Prepyrenees, among wild mountains and deep cliffs, more than twenty small villages constitute the big municipality of Baix Palllars. It seems that time stopped in this area of the Pyrenees where life has gone on quiet and calm. Traditional mountain activities are very present and are usually combined with routins and traditions of the few citizens that still live in these lands of a great natural value.
Romanesque churches, prehistoric dolmens, abandoned villages and wild forests follow Noguera Pallarea course, crossing the municipality from North to South, and flowing under the majestic medieval bridge in Gerri de Sal until the spectacular Collegats canyon, where the brave waters of the river lead the way through high rocky walls that contrast with the quietness around Lake Montcortès, the municipality's main attraction.
