Whereas years ago, El Pallars Sobirà was basically a farming and cattle-raising county, in the recent years tourism has become the most important sector.

Because of this, in the intervening years the lodging offer has increased relevantly and a gastronomic association has been created introducing the traditional food of the area as well as promoting a creative cuisine of the highest quality: the Associació Gastronòmica La Xicoia.
