The Romanesque art from El Pallars it is highly valued, and so, unfortunately, there are pieces exhibited in many museums around the world. Becoming more aware of its importance, the hermitages are restored, the frescos are reproduced , and the wooden sculptures are recreated... On the other hand, there are hidden sanctuaries which, even though do not belong to the Romanesque, become a popular meeting point for the gatherings every year.

All of the villages in El Pallars Sobirà –made of wood, stone and slab -, are charming enough, but some are more charismatic due to its geographical situation, the configuration of its streets or some other feature that makes it more remarkable. Most are on the top of a hill, some more than 1,500 m high, built an enclosed village or surrounded by salt works.

El Pallars Sobirà, as a county territory, has one of the largest protected areas. As a matter of fact, the only National Park in Catalonia is here, a part from the Natural Park of the High Pyrenees, several areas with PEIN (Pla d'Espais d'Interès Natural de Catalunya- Natural Interest Landscape Plan of Catalonia) and National Hunting Reserve of Boumort. In addition to this, it has the biggest lake of the Pyrenees, called Certescans, and the highest peak of the Principality: la Pica d'Estats.
