The celebration of the main fest in the villages of El Pallars Sobirà is very remote in time. The festival is the most important celebration that a village organises every year, honouring the patron saint of the parish or church. Some years ago, when villages had no paved roads that reached them, and so the isolation was even bigger, the village festival was a special and unrepeatable occasion for family reunions and for foreigners to visit the village and make new acquaintances, and eventually, new marriages.
Nowadays, these village celebrations are still prepared with much excitement.
The Festa Major of each hamlet is the perfect event for dancing, eating traditional food as girella, meeting the family and friends and join the whole of the community in a common project.
