Alt Àneu, an amazing heritage
Millenary tradition, great historical heritage and unique natural environment are the charms that turn the eight villages of Alt Àneu municipality into the essence of the vast valleys of Àneu, located in the heart of the Pyrenees, next to Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. The small villages have been able to preserve the traditional structure of the Pyrenees without turning their back on modernisation, which guarantee the quality of life in such a privileged place.
From the top of a hill, València d’Àneu Castle controls the vast valley that hosts a very valuable Romanesque heritage, amazing ancestral traditions ruled by fire, as well as a singular mark of Ibero-Basque origin that is written on the name of the villages: Àrreu, Borén, Isavarre, Isil… All this turns Alt Àneu into a genuine territory that neither forgets its past nor turns its back on innovation.
