Tradition & Modernity
The Pyrenean tradition reigns in all the stone paved streets in the villages belonging to the municipality of Rialp. The flocks of sheep, cows and horses fill the green meadown in Àssua Valley, where the traditional livestock farming is still alive. The remains of Rialp Castle prove the medieval past of the village and many other historical buildings are spread all over the mountains in the municipality.
The villages in Rialp have managed to preserve their traditions, customs and architecture but they have also been modernized so that all the skiers coming to Port Ainé ski resort, the adventurers wanting to try Noguera Pallaresa's waters and the hikers wanting to discover a fascinating nature can enjoy an unforgettable experience. Many areas in the municipality belong to Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park and Alt Pirineu Natural Park.
