Bus
The transport company ALSA offers public transport to Pallars Sobirà with a direct line from Barcelona and regular lines with daily services from Barcelona and Lleida.
ALSA also provides a transport service connecting the different villages of the neighbouring regions. Since ALSA schedules may change, the Pallars Sobirà Tourist Office recommends checking ALSA’s website or calling the company’s Customer Service: (+34) 913270540.
Car
Access to Pallars Sobirà is via 3 main roads:
– The N-260, from Pallars Jussà, through the Collegats Gorge
– The N-260, from Alt Urgell, over the Cantó Pass
– The C-28, from the Val d’Aran, over the Bonaigua Pass
The roads crossing the mountain passes may present some difficulties in winter due to snow and ice. If you plan to visit Pallars Sobirà during the snow season, it is advisable to bring winter tyres or snow chains. For up-to-date information on road conditions, click here.
Tren
Although Pallars Sobirà does not have a railway connection, the train reaches La Pobla de Segur, in the neighbouring region of Pallars Jussà. It is connected with Tremp, Balaguer, and Lleida through a line of the Catalan Government’s railway network, known as “El tren dels llacs” (The Lakes Train).
From La Pobla de Segur station, located 27 km from Sort, you can take a bus to Esterri d’Àneu, with stops in Gerri de la Sal, Baro, Montardit de Baix, Sort, Rialp, Llavorsí, Escaló, and La Guingueta d’Àneu.
