Pallars Sobirà is a land of abundant water and numerous rivers and streams. Overcoming these obstacles has been a necessity for linking the villages of the valley since ancient times. The construction of bridges to connect both sides of the rivers was hence a priority.
Many medieval bridges still exist and are used as means of communication. Those beautiful stone constructions represent a historical heritage of the Pyrenean architecture. The places where they are located are idyllic picture-postcard images that remind to old times, when roads didn’t exist.
